Ambassadors Football Club 50 Hour Challenge
Ambassadors F.C has gone from strength to strength since its formation in 2006. After back-to-back promotions and a surprise Marshall Cup Final appearance the club now sits proudly in Division 2 of the Mid- Ulster league.
This immediate success has seen the club grow from 20 members and 1 team to over 50 members and 4 teams that include a reserve team, Night Owls team and a Ladies training squad.
We have had some great experiences and done some fantastic work especially on our recent trips to Guinea Bissau.
The challenge!
We are challenging the estimated 50 members of the club to do at least 1 extra hour of voluntary work over the 2009/2010 season.
How does it work?
We believe that 1 hour can make a huge difference. We want you to sacrifice 1 hour of your spare time normally spent on self to serve your local community. We often try to justify our actions but if we really consider our lifestyles then we find that we are both blessed and very fortunate. It is this blessing that should spur use on to help others in need. Throughout the year AIS/AFC are approached about various speaking arrangements, coaching opportunities and community projects that need our help, we want to mobilise the football club and serve our local community.
What type of events?
If you see a need/opportunity to help somebody then we are encouraging you to step beyond your comfort zone and commit 1 hour to that person/project. Once you complete your hour just grab a quick photo and we will make a collage of events as means to celebrate at the end of the season. If you are struggling to find an event to get involved in then just get in touch and Matt or Phil will help you out.
Why?
Each of us has a responsibility to serve our communities and help those in need and less fortunate than ourselves. We forget that issues such as poverty and resulting homelessness have huge affects on our local communities and not just those abroad. We want to embrace the many problems in our society and do our bit to help alleviate these issues.
