Football in the community:FITC1

Because football is so persuasive in our society we are keen to partner with schools, Churches and other organisations that value sport as a educational tool and wish to apply a holistic approach when delivering this kind of activity.

Our football in the community scheme is designed to give young and developing players the opportunity to improve their skills and knowledge in a fun, positive and encouraging Christian environment.

The team:

We have UEFA licensed and IFA qualified coaches who work alongside a dedicated team of volunteers to run professional and relevant sessions for all ages and abilities.     All of our coaches have completed all the relevant police checks and can complete specific school checks upon request.

Practical sessions:

Our practical sessions comprising of technical and tactical instruction focusing on passing, control, dribbling, heading, shooting and turning. Throughout the program we try to incorporate the recommended Fundamental Movement Skills for schools and end each session with a short ‘team talk’ linked in with a specific theme.

Educational sessions, Assemblies and SU’s:

We are currently developing a program that we hope can be incorporated into regular school classes. We enjoy the opportunity to share our personal experiences from our regular international tours and through presentations, assemblies and classroom sessions we believe that we can help educate, raise awareness of world issues and give young people an insight into life and football in other countries.

FITC2These sessions aim to cover football related topics such as respect, sportsmanship, discipline and teamwork from a Biblical perspective. Within this program we also provide talks on diet, nutrition and exercise. The program is very flexible and can be altered to suit the specific needs of the organisation. The aims, themes and schedule will be discussed and confirmed at a meeting prior to the start of any program.

Adopt a project:

The Cycle for Hope is a 6 month cycle from Morocco to South Africa run by AIS Ireland. A core group of 10 will be cycling the whole way but there are also 9 legs where people can join for a shorter period of time.

The aim of the cycle is for people to see and enjoy the cultural diversity of Africa while meeting different organisations, churches and missionaries. We are also raising funds and awareness for AIS and in particular the Hope Academies in South Africa. This is a program that gives new hope to underprivileged children and young offenders through the teaching of life skills and team work through the medium of football.

Our football in the community program will be working alongside the ‘Cycle for Hope’ over the next year. We are on the look out for schools and other organisations who would be willing to partner with us as we follow the progress of the cyclists and raise some money to bring hope to young people in South Africa.

Cost:

Ambassadors in Sport and Ambassadors Football Club are both non-profit making organisations. For much of our work we rely on donations and gifts of individuals to help sustain the work. For our services we charge a nominal fee to help cover cost, develop our work in Ireland and support other Ambassadors projects overseas.
