BANBRIDGE TOWN RESERVES V AMBASSADORS
SATURDAY 10TH APRIL 2010
HAVELOCK PARK, SEAPATRICK
MID ULSTER LEAGUE DIV 2
KICK OFF 2.15 PM
Ambassadors travelled to Banbridge Town Reserves having lost four and drawn one from their previous five outings, their worst ever run of poor results. Chairman Hobson conducted the pre match talk within the changing room.
Ambassadors started the game well with some slick passing supported with good movement but were unable to penetrate the home defense. Chances came and gone as the woodwork was hit and poor finishing enabled Banbridge to enter half time scoreless. Keeper Cooke was not troubled in the first period as Managh, Newberry, Elliott and Anderson dealt with any Banbridge threat.
Manager just asked for more of the same in the second half as Ambassadors had been dominant in terms of possession.
More good opportunities passed by and again the woodwork was rattled as Martin crashed an effort against the bar. Surely a goal would arrive soon and on 69mins Hobson swung in a free kick which Martin got on the end of and after the ball deflected off a defender and keeper, it finally ended in the net much to the relief of Ambassadors. Man of the match Hobson grabbed number two on 81 mins and Stewart added the third on 86 to leave a convincing three nil scoreline.
Good to put a win on the board again although promotion seems a long way off, With nine games left eight wins are probably required to achieve three successive promotions.
